SUMMARY - Education Specialists are responsible for delivering professional development and consulting services to schools that have contracted with our Client’s School Services, for implementation essentials and changing implementation practice of teachers and teacher leaders. This position requires deep knowledge and extensive experience with standards-based schools and the ability to deliver high quality, job embedded professional development and site-based technical support to school personnel using innovative technology resources. The desired applicants must have five or more years of highly successful teaching experience in a 9-12 school setting and preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in effective coaching and training to teachers and teacher leaders, in the area of STEM.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Demonstrate strong content knowledge and successful experience with SuccessMaker and/or iLit and services that result in learner outcomes
  • Demonstrate reflective Professional Development and Consulting Services practices that result in learner outcomes
  • Deliver face-to-face professional development for teachers, school and district leadership, which will include facilitating: 
    • Research-based strategies for aligning classroom instruction to the Standards of Mathematical Practices (SMP) and/or College and Career Readiness Competencies (CCR)
    • Research-based strategies for teaching second language learners and students with disabilitied
    • Data analysis and looking at and responding to student work
    • Strategic planning and progress monitoring meetings to determine the progress the school is making and prescribe next steps
    • Fostering change of practice and school improvement in the areas of  Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development
    • Leadership strategies that establishes client’s partnership with the school and initiates the process of implementation
    • Classroom and teacher collaboration focus walking exercises and action planning focused on learner outcomes
  • Plan for and deliver comprehensive job-embedded professional development and technical support using products and/or research based methodologies aligned to our client’s theory of practice. This will include:
    • Providing instructional and methodology support including modeling, coaching, co-teaching and co-planning with teachers and administrators to create a data driven culture
    • Supporting Principal and Leadership Team in observing and analyzing the routines, rituals, and classroom practices
    • Implementing strategies to interpret and utilize student achievement data to drive instructional improvement, including the use of formative assessment and the analysis of state test results
  • Demonstrate results - driven coaching evidence which will include:
    • Ability to effectively model the Program Implementation Essentials and core workshop outcomes with fidelity
    • Effective modeling within the workshop and classroom settings
    • Co-planning and co-teaching in authentic classroom and instructional scenarios
    • Utilizing questioning strategies that impact meta-cognitive awareness and problem-solving within students and adult learners
    • Utilizing of the Cycle of Feedback to promote a change of practice in teaching, learning, curriculum and leadership and provide non-evaluative feedback
    • Modeling the facilitation of Professional Learning Community protocols
    • Advising, facilitating, knowledge-transfer roles and tasks that require expertise that the customer does not have





?        Master's Degree or higher from an accredited College / University

?        Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher / teacher leader

?        At least five (5) years of successful experience as a K-12 professional around STEM

?        Strong collaboration and communication skills with direct and cross functional teams

?        Knowledge of standards-based reform, curriculum, instruction and assessment

?        Valid Teaching and/or Leadership Certification

?        Strong familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

?        Ability to plan strategically with and coach school leaders

?        Ability to coach classroom teachers

?        Ability to provide instructional support relating to effective teaching strategies for teachers across content areas

?        Excellent organizational and communication skills

?        Strong problem solving skills

?        Knowledge of and the ability to function with various school and district organizational structures

?        Excellent ability to present content to large and small groups

?        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

?        Skills in use of technology: Google Docs and Microsoft tools

?        Ability to travel 50% or more

?        Scaffolding instruction for English language learners

?        Scaffolding instruction for students with disabilities

?        Content areas in addition to Science

?        Coaching certification or endorsement from an accredited program

?        Coaching experience in School Improvement and School Turnaround

?        Programs and services to support student engagement

?        Strategies for the effective classroom use of instructional technology

?        Programs and services to support community outreach
